A resin printer cures liquid resin with UV light. In the mono-LCD printers here, a monochrome screen masks each layer, the light cures it against a release film in the bottom of the vat, and the build plate lifts the print out layer by layer. The detail is far finer than filament, which is why they're the usual choice for miniatures. Two parts wear out. Anycubic, Elegoo and Prusa rate their mono screens at about 2,000 hours, and the release film gets dented and cloudy with use. Both are sold as spares for most models. Resin needs nitrile gloves, eye protection and a ventilated room, and every print gets washed in isopropyl alcohol and cured under UV.
