Anycubic Photon Mono M5s
The Photon Mono M5s put a 10.1 in 12K screen into a mid-size resin printer. At 19 µm in X and Y, it's fine enough for the eyes on a tabletop miniature. Its party trick is that it doesn't need levelling. Anycubic calls the floating build platform levelling-free, and the printer checks itself and the resin before each job. It prints 218 x 123 x 200 mm, rides on dual linear rails, and talks to Anycubic's app over Wi-Fi. Two parts wear, as on every mono-LCD resin printer. Anycubic rates the screen at about 2,000 hours, and the ACF release film in the vat gets replaced as it wears. Both are sold as spares, so a used M5s with a tired screen isn't a write-off. It's just one to pay less for.

- We couldn't confirm that the M5s shows a total print or screen-time counter in its menus. Ask the seller roughly how many hours it has printed, because Anycubic rates the screen at about 2,000 hours.
- LCD screen
- It masks each layer with a 10.1 in 12K mono LCD, rated by Anycubic at 2,000 hours typical. With the vat lifted out, the screen should show no cracks and no resin under the edges, and a test exposure should light it evenly.
- Vat and release film
- The vat uses Anycubic's ACF release film, which Anycubic sells as a replacement for the M5s. Hold the vat up to a light in the photos. The film should be clear and tight, with no dents, cloudy patches or holes.
- Build plate and levelling
- Anycubic calls the M5s levelling-free, with a floating build platform. Ask for a photo of the plate. It should be flat and clean, with no cured resin stuck to it.
- Z axis
- The plate rides on dual linear rails with a 10 µm Z step. Ask the seller to move the plate up and down from the menu. It should travel smoothly, without knocking.
- Firmware and account
- It prints over USB or Wi-Fi with Anycubic's app, and it checks itself and the resin level before a print. If the seller linked it to their Anycubic app account, ask them to remove it before it ships.
- Add-ons
- Anycubic's wash and cure stations are separate. One in the box is a nice extra, but price the printer on its own.
- Spare parts
- Anycubic's store lists a replacement LCD for the M5s and M5s Pro, shipped without the anti-scratch film, and its ACF film fits the M5s too. That makes a tired screen or film a fixable problem.
- Shipping and packaging
- Anycubic gives no packing guide that we found. The vat should be emptied and cleaned and the plate taken off, with both packed apart from the screen. Resin leaking into the box is the damage to check for.
