Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra
The Saturn 4 Ultra is Elegoo's big, clever resin printer. A 10 in 12K screen covers a plate of about 219 x 123 mm with 220 mm of height, so it prints a whole army or a full-size bust in one job. The clever part is the vat. Instead of pulling each layer straight off the film, it tilts the vat to peel the layer free, which Elegoo says allows speeds up to 150 mm an hour, on PFA film rather than the usual FEP. It levels itself with one click, a sensor warns of low resin and leftover residue, and an AI camera watches for an empty plate or a warped print. There's a newer Saturn 4 Ultra 16K with a heated vat, so check which one a listing is. Elegoo sells replacement screens for this one.

Hours, screen, vat and firmware
- Print hours
- There's no confirmed print or screen-time counter in the Saturn 4 Ultra's menus. Elegoo rates the screen at up to 2,000 hours, so ask roughly how many it has done.
- LCD screen
- A 10 in 12K mono screen masks each layer, rated by Elegoo at up to 2,000 hours, and Elegoo sells a replacement for the Saturn 4 and 4 Ultra. Get a shot of it with the vat removed, and check for cracks and resin at the edges.
- Vat and release film
- The vat uses PFA release film rather than FEP, and the vat tilts to peel each layer free, which Elegoo says allows up to 150 mm an hour. Check the film in a backlit photo. It should be clear and taut, with no dents or holes.
- Build plate and levelling
- It levels itself with one click, using a mechanical sensor that also warns of low resin, leftover residue and a failed level. Ask for a photo of the plate. It should be flat and clean.
- Z axis
- Elegoo doesn't say how the Z axis is built. Ask the seller to run the plate up and down and to tilt the vat from the menu. Both should move smoothly without knocking.
- Firmware and account
- It sends files over Wi-Fi or prints from USB, and supports printing to several printers at once. Ask the seller to clear their networks and files, and to unlink it from any Elegoo app account.
- Add-ons
- The AI camera came in the box. It watches for an empty plate or a warped print and records time-lapses, though one review found it only works through Chitubox software. Check the photos for it. The heated vat belongs to the Saturn 4 Ultra 16K, not this 12K model.
- Spare parts
- Elegoo sells a replacement 12K screen for the Saturn 4 and 4 Ultra, with a three-month warranty that excludes resin leaks and a damaged scratch film. Elegoo groups PFA, ACF and FEP films with its resin accessories.
- Shipping and packaging
- We found no Elegoo packing guide. The vat should be emptied, the plate removed and packed apart from the screen, and the camera taken off or padded. Check for resin leaks and a cracked screen on arrival.

What to check
The PFA film needs changing once it's dented or cloudy, and the screen is rated at up to 2,000 hours. Elegoo sells a replacement screen, so neither is a dealbreaker.
- 01Which version: Check the listing and label say 12K, not 16K. The 16K version has a heated vat and is a different printer.
- 02Screen: Ask for a photo of the screen with the vat removed. It should be uncracked, with no resin under the edges.
- 03Hours: Ask roughly how many hours it has printed. Elegoo rates the screen at up to 2,000 hours.
- 04Release film: Look at the vat film against a light in the photos. Clear and taut is good, and dents or holes mean new film.
- 05Tilt and levelling: Ask the seller to run the level routine and tilt the vat from the menu. Both should finish without an error.
- 06Camera: Check the AI camera is in the photos. It came in the box, so a listing without it should cost less.
- 07Packing: Ask whether the vat will be emptied and the plate removed. Resin should never travel in the vat.

Ask how many hours it's printed against the 2,000-hour screen rating.
