Creality K1
The K1 was Creality's answer to Bambu Lab. Released in April 2023, it was an enclosed CoreXY with a 220 x 220 x 250 mm volume, a light 190 g print head and Klipper-based firmware, rated at 300 mm/s for everyday printing and 600 mm/s at its peak. A G-sensor in the head tunes out vibration, a ceramic heater gets the hotend to 200 °C in 40 seconds, and the bed levels itself. It drew many complaints, and the K1C of January 2024 fixed many of them. That makes the details matter on a used one. Early K1s shipped with a separate hotend and later ones with an integrated one, which is the one Creality's CFS color upgrade needs. Ask which yours has.

Printer check
Hours, hotend, bed and firmware
- Print hours
- We found no print-time counter in the K1's documentation. Ask the seller roughly how much it has printed and whether Creality Print or Creality Cloud shows past jobs.
- Hotend and nozzle
- It has a ceramic heater, a titanium alloy heatbreak and a copper alloy nozzle rated to 300 °C. Early K1s shipped with a separate hotend and later ones with an integrated hotend, which you tell apart by set screws on the heat sink. Ask for a photo of the hotend.
- Bed and levelling
- It levels itself hands-free and prints on a flexible build plate. Creality's wiki has a troubleshooting page for the nozzle dragging on the bed. Ask for a photo of a recent first layer and of the plate.
- Belts, rails and screws
- It's a CoreXY with a 190 g print head and a G-sensor in the head that tunes input shaping. Ask the seller to pluck the belts and move the head by hand with the power off. It should glide without catching.
- Firmware and account
- It runs Creality OS, built on Klipper. Creality publishes the K1-series Klipper source and an official root-access guide on GitHub. Ask whether it's rooted or stock, and to unlink it from Creality Cloud before it ships.
- Enclosure and add-ons
- Creality's CFS multi-color upgrade kit for the K1 series only works with the integrated hotend, so an early K1 with the separate hotend needs the newer hotend first. A camera is supported through the AI Detection menu but wasn't listed as standard. Check the photos for either.
- Spare parts
- Creality's wiki has K1 replacement guides for the extruder, filament sensor, mainboard, hotbed, power supply and hotend kit, and Creality's store still listed the K1 when we checked.
- Shipping and packaging
- Creality has no K1 repacking guide that we found, so ask for the original box and foam with the print head held still. Cracked panels or a loose head are what to look for on arrival.

Check the listing photos against these lists, and ask the seller about anything you can’t see. A missing sheet, add-on or power supply should come off the price.
What to check
The K1 drew many complaints after launch, and Creality's K1C of January 2024 fixed many of its shortcomings. Hotend clogs after printing ABS and the nozzle dragging on the bed both have their own pages in Creality's wiki, so ask about both.
- 01Hotend version: Ask for a photo of the hotend heat sink. Set screws there mean the early separate hotend, which won't take the CFS upgrade.
- 02Recent print: Ask for a photo of a recent print with the first layer up. Even lines mean the levelling and hotend are fine.
- 03Clogs: Ask whether it has clogged after printing ABS and how it was fixed. A seller who knows the fix has looked after it.
- 04Firmware: Ask whether it's rooted or on stock Creality OS. Either works, but you should know which.
- 05Belts: Ask the seller to pluck the belts. They should feel taut and even.
- 06Panels: Check the lid, door and panels in the photos. They should be uncracked and all there.
- 07Cloud account: Ask the seller to unlink it from Creality Cloud before it ships. It should arrive ready for your account.

The common faults are clogs after ABS and the nozzle dragging on the bed, so ask about both, and have it unlinked from Creality Cloud.
