The MK3S+ is the last of the classic Prusa i3s, shipped from November 2020 as a refinement of the MK3S. The headline change was the SuperPINDA probe, which doesn't drift with temperature the way the older PINDA did, so first layers stay consistent. The plus also got new Y-axis bearing holders, a reinforced X end and a better filament path for flexibles. Underneath is the familiar recipe of an E3D V6 hotend, dual Bondtech gears, a magnetic bed with PEI sheets and open-source firmware. Prusa now sells kits that turn an MK3S+ into an MK3.5S, MK3.9S or MK4S, so a used one can be a cheap start or the base for an upgrade.

The SuperPINDA on every MK3S+ fixed the temperature drift of the older MK3S's PINDA probe. Past that, it comes down to the nozzle, the drive gears, the sheet and the belts.

Buying guide
Every MK3S+ has the SuperPINDA probe beside the nozzle, and an upgraded MK3 or MK3S should say so in the listing. Ask for a photo of that probe and of LCD Menu, Statistics for total print time. Shipping runs $5 to $156, so compare delivered prices against the $420 to $525 band. Prusa still sells kits that turn one into an MK4S, so an older printer isn't a dead end.
