Creality Ender 3 V3 SE
Creality launched the first Ender 3 in 2018, and the name has carried through every revision since. The V3 SE is the current beginner's version, and it automates the fiddly parts. A CR Touch probe levels the bed and a strain sensor sets the nozzle height, so there's no sliding paper under the nozzle. The Sprite direct-drive extruder handles flexible TPU as well as PLA and PETG, and the bed rides on twin 8 mm linear shafts with twin Z screws. It prints a 220 x 220 x 250 mm volume at up to 250 mm/s from an SD card. It's simple, it's still in Creality's lineup, and spares are everywhere, which makes a used one a low-risk first printer.

Hours, hotend, bed and firmware
- Print hours
- We couldn't find a print-time counter for the V3 SE. The seller's estimate, the nozzle, the sheet and a recent print are what you have to go on.
- Hotend and nozzle
- It uses Creality's Sprite direct-drive extruder, with printing temperatures up to 260 °C. Ask for a close photo of the nozzle tip. A clean, round opening is good.
- Bed and levelling
- A CR Touch probe levels the bed and a strain sensor sets the Z offset, so there's no paper-under-the-nozzle routine. Prints go on a PC-coated spring-steel sheet. Look at the sheet in the photos for bald or melted patches.
- Belts, rails and screws
- It's a bed slinger with twin Z lead screws, and the bed runs on a pair of 8 mm linear shafts. A bed that slides freely on those shafts and belts that twang when plucked are the good signs, so ask the seller to try both.
- Firmware and account
- It has a 3.2 in color screen with a rotary knob and prints from an SD card, with no network to set up. Ask whether the seller changed the firmware, since many owners of older Enders did.
- Spare parts
- Creality still lists the Ender 3 V3 SE in its current lineup and has a wiki page for it with manuals and troubleshooting. Retailers sell its spares too, so parts are easy to find.
- Shipping and packaging
- Creality has no packing guide for it that we found. The original box is best, with the sheet off and the gantry held still, and a bent gantry or a cracked screen is the damage to look for.

What to check
There's no known V3 SE defect. Judge it on the nozzle, the spring-steel sheet, the belts and a recent print.
- 01Model name: Check the listing and label say V3 SE. The V3 KE, V3 and V3 Plus are different printers.
- 02Recent print: Ask for a photo of a recent print with the first layer up. Even lines mean the CR Touch and Z offset are working.
- 03Nozzle: Ask for a close photo of the nozzle tip. Clean and round is good, and crusted or flattened means a new nozzle.
- 04Sheet: Look at the sheet in the photos. An even surface is good, and bald or melted patches mean a new sheet.
- 05Belts: Ask the seller to pluck the X and Y belts. They should feel taut and twang.
- 06Firmware: Ask whether the firmware has been changed. Stock firmware is the easiest to support.
- 07Packing: Ask how it'll be packed. The sheet should come off and the gantry should be held still.
